Gordon, Sorry to here about the starter. There is a British sports car, I believe it is a M-G that uses a very similar if not the same engine. There was one in the neighbors garage one day and I was looking at it it even has the same emblem on it that the tractor does. I can't believe a starter for a Ford would fit. The motor in the car that day even had the no. 1622cc cast on the side of the block, I'll guess it was about a mid 1970's date. You may find one in a salvage yard good luck.
