I never had a 460 but had a 351W in a ton. The windsor can pull if you keep the exhaust open and let it roar. It can also burn gas in quite a proficient manner. From what I've seen of some neighbours with the 460, it's harder on gas, but not by a lot.
Ours (351) was a carb job with a 4bbl Holley. If I was looking for one today it would be injected, without a doubt. Fuel injection made a decent engine out of the windsor.
Anyhow, I think if I was doing a lot of towing I'd prefer the 460. If it was just occassional towing and mostly lighter driving I'd go with the windsor.
I'm not a fan of the power joke. If I wanted a truck to do a lot of heavy work today it would be a Dodge with a Cummins. It's the only one worth consideration in my opinion.
