I have a '50 JD B with a Wico XB battery ignition distributor that was getting to be a real bear to start. Pulling the plugs and grounding them brought a weak and sometimes non-existent spark. I replaced the condensor and nothing got better.I pulled the cover off the distributor and with the ignition on I took a screwdriver and repeatedly opened the points. At first I got a fair spark at the points but the more I opened them the weaker it got until there was no spark. Before I spend $117 for a new coil, is there an easy accurate way to check the coil with a voltmeter to see if it is the problem?
