Hey Fixer, I had totator cuff surgery in 2002 when I was 66 yr old. Pain had been so bad I couldn"t get right arm up to shoulder level and couldn"t sleep good at night or put on a sweatshirt. You will hear horror stories about how long and terrible the recovery period is...I followed the rehab instructions every day and 6 months later I was as good as new. PS The day before surgery I had to have the required checkup. I told the lovely nurse that I was really scared about this operation. She said "It will be ok". I asked her "Will I be able to play the piano later on?". She said "Yes". I then said "Good, I never could do that before!". She laughed so hard she had to sit down.
