Turn the engine over 'til the rotor points to the #1 high-tension tower.
Find the flywheel timing marks (visible though the little inspection cover) to fine-tune the crankshaft position.
Tag the wires at the cap with the cylinder numbers and take a picture of the cap and wires with the #'s visible.
Take the cap off and snap a photo of the exact rotor position.
Remove the distributor.
Be sure not to turn the crankshaft after removing the distributor, and, with the aid of the pictures, you should be able to get the distributor back in place when done.
Verify the exact timing with a timing light. (17º @ 2000 engine RPM.)
