I have a farm plate on my 07 chev HD2500. In Michigan you have to pay sales tax on a vehicile that goes down the road. At least thats what they told me. I've gotten around that with a few trailers I've brought but thats another story. With my farm plate I am allowed to transport my family and use it for personal use. Which means I can pull my fifth wheel camper, drive it to church, go to the store and so forth. I have not had any problems and I carry the book which states how I can use the vehicle in case I ever do. The big thing is do not use the vehicle for commercial use or transportation for hire. I think they just try to intimadate you when you do try to get a farm plate. Most of them people at the Secertary of state don't have a clue how the law reads anyway. The cost difference was 48 bucks a year compared to 200 and some bucks. Add that up over a few years and its a large sume of money. Hope this helps
