have a Deutz 7120 that has the hydraulic pump sitting on left side of tractor about starter height (attached near front of motor) I have to test it then I am thinking remove it and get it fixed/repaired - then I got to thinking - with the pump that high ....how does the oil get to the pump? does a hydraulic pump like that have enough suction to lift it from the lower tranny level through 15' of line and even during winter?
next thought - long story on what happened to this tractor but I have no 3 point at all (put the lever up and in 20 minutes with no load on the arms it will eventually raise..... no remotes.... anyway the previous owners took off a loader - removed the power beyond - then just plugged the 2 holes instead of connecting them for flow through - then the tractor sat for a year - i got to thinking that maybe the gears have broke the key on the shaft - power steering does still work for those of you deutz owners....what are the odds of this actually happening you suppose?
(Also posted this on the Allis board just in case a few more Deutz experts are there)

The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
