A friend of mine has a brother that lives in Idaho. He built a home in the middle of the wilderness, 250 acres of trees and mountains. I was told that he had to pay $10,000 to have a power line ran for a mile to get power and he actually priced out a large generator to run most of the time. He opted for the power company to supply him.
I could only see doing that with a diesel 20 HP or something and a spare portable as a backup.
