The 4.3L V6 does not require the heads to be pulled to replace the lifters. The LS small blocks do. The 4.3 is the same basic design as the original small block from the 50's. GM went to 5 year 100K on powertrain only in either 06 or 07. Can't remember right off. Bumper to bumper is still 3/36. There is a service bulletin on lifter noise on the LS engines. The 4.3 is not included. Goodwill warranty coverage is at the dealer's discretion and is only allowed for up to 60k or 1 year over bumper to bumper. Some of the other factors that are taken into account are service records. If you can document regular maintenence, that always helps your case. Being a regular customer helps too. On the other hand, if you're one of those that changes oil about every 10K, you can pretty much forget about any assistance. Your vehicle is just too old and too many miles to qualify for goodwill coverage.
