work in a steel mill & weld galvanize strip all the time buff/ grind the zinc off the area to be welded ( at least 1/2" back from edge & weld normally a stick machine will burn through the zinc & weld it ok but a wire feed machine the zinc will clog the nozzle if you don"t grind it off first best to always grind off zinc & then rustproof the weld area after as once the zinc is ground / burnt off the area will corrode bob
