If you don't have rocks to worry about, an IH 550 trip-back plow would also work. I would, however, go with 16" bottoms instead of 18". It's been my experience that in stubble, 18" are great, but in sod or ground that hasn't been broken in a long time, 18" can have trouble keeping the soil rolling, especially if the tractor lugs down and you can't pull the plow as fast as you like. IMHO, 16" works better in these situations. BTW, around here, we wouldn't try to pull 5 18s with anything less than a 1466. I have a JD 4020 that will struggle with 4 16s in some fields, but fly with them in others. A friend of mine has the same experience with an IH 1066 and 5 16s. Some of the ground in western NJ is just plain old hard, with plenty of rocks.
