Closing in 2 weeks on another 120, of which 90 is row crop.
I have had a full time job since 1985,but always been a weekend farmer since then.
I was the first generation in our family to have an off farm job.
The place where my house is has been in our family 103 years.
I was in FFA, made State farmer, BS in Animal Husbandry from the University of Mo. Farmhouse Fraternity.
Recent census in Agriculture shows that 67% of what they consider farms, ($1,000 in ag sales), are classed as what I call hobby farms or retirement farms.
But after reading the thread a few days ago about farm subsidies, I guess we shouldn't call ourselves farmsers, but welfare recipients.
