The amperage rating of the old-type voltage regulators noted the limits on the amperage the regulator would permit the generator to produce. For example, a 6 volt Chevrolet might have a 25 amp generator and a 6 volt Cadillac might have a 35 amp generator. And the part number of the original regulators was different for the two cars. Using the Chevrolet regulator on the Cadillac would limit the output of the 35 amp generator to 25 amps, no harm if that would keep the battery charged and supply electrical usage while the car was in use. But using a 35 amp regulator on a 25 amp generator might result in damage, even burnout, if the actual current draw exceeded 25 amps for very long. The old MOTOR'S Repair Manuals listed all those part numbers. I suspect the regulators now are available in far fewer amperage ratings. By 1962, most 6 volt regulators were all the same (undisclosed) amperage rating, the replacement for the Chev and the Caddy was the same part number. The 30 will work fine for your tractor and probably will keep the battery charged, albeit a bit slower.
