It would be a mistake to discount the products of any country. Japanese products after the war were mostly junk. Now Japan is known for making some of the finest products in the world. Twenty years agos, when imports from China started coming in, the stuff was garbage. Now much of the stuff from China is high quality, made to US specs. I just put a Delta fence on my table saw. Chinese manufacture, but of first rate quality.
First Japan, then Taiwan, now China and Korea. In a few years expect quality imports from India, Pakistan, Vietnam, Thailand, etc. I don't like it, but that's the way things go.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
