I've only tried viewing U.S and Mexico. It works good for me. When you start out you just double click over the area of interest, and then keep double clicking to continue zooming in. Then with the buttons on the top right of the screen, you can angle the view the way you want it. There is also a 3D feature for the buildings in big cities that can be turned on by checking the box in the left hand side of the screen. The street view option is also there which will turn on all kinds of little camera icons.
You only need to download it once and then its all installed on your computer. The download I got also came with the Google Chrome web browser, which is a web browser that actually seems faster than Internet Explorer or Firefox. Icons for each of them were automatically added to my desktop. The Google Earth icon looks like a blue and white marble and the google Chrome icon looks like a red, green, and yellow beach ball. Both of them also say what they are in text as well.
I had to reboot my computer after downloading it before Google Earth 5.0 would work.
