I do the same thing, but start a little higher up the food chain- bought a very nice 9 year old Lincoln Continental 4 years ago for $4,000- had 128,000 miles. Has 190,000 now, minimal costs to date (did have to get spark plugs and tune-up at 135,000- mechanic said they were the original plugs! Try that on your '60's cars, nostalgia buffs. . .), gets 27 MPG on the highway, think I'll try to find another one when this one tanks. We're the guys who are wrecking the economy- won't spring for overpriced new rigs, rather let somebody else suffer the depreciation.
