Gonna need 4 conductor wire for that, Neutral (white) and the bonding(green or bare)wire. They can only meet in the main panel. Aluminum wire is cheaper use SER cable and run it in PVC pipe with a sub panel in the garage. wouldn't hurt to drive a ground rod either. use number #4 awg. And I'm gonna catch hell for posting an answer. And others will have different opinions on how to do it. Good luck Jim K
