Al Gore is down here in South East Australia, Extract from the local newspaper.
"Bendigo has had it's second longest dry spell in almost 150 years broken. A paltry 0.4 millimetres fell yesterday morning, breaking a run of 50 consecutive days without rain. The parched start to 2009 looked set to break records for all the wrong reasons until yesterday's shower. The rainfall saved Bendigo from its driest February since records began in 1864. The driest February occured in 1997 when only 0.2 millimetres fell for the month. Six years earlier ,Bendigo was in the midst of its longest ever dry spell ,a 62 day stretch without rain. ............The period Jan 1 2009 until February 19 2009 became the secondest longest dry streak in recorded history on Wednesday beating a 48 day period between January 1 and February 17, 1906."
