People have been complaining since the "Nashville Sound"of the early eighties. It was considered too pop to traditionalists.Thats when you heard Mickey Gilley,Crystal Gail, etc. One guy from that era whom I thought was real good was John Conlee[Rose Colored Glasses].Anyway once you hit forty no new music will be aimed at you because your not the major market share. What gets produced is what sells not what you may like.If you saw hippies on stage maybe you used a time machine earlier that day.The entire music industry is changing to where even CDs are dying in sales.Kids at work plug in the ipods to the Milwaukee radios and you listen to their crap all day.One store, Barnes and Noble, has a system where you can listen to the tracks before buying.Seems I pretty much know what I want.I have found Kitty Wells in the used vinyl section.George Jones in the discount bin.I dont just have country but all types of music. When I went to Nashville I went to Reiman auditorium and didn even chek out the new opry.I wanted to see where Lorretta Lynn stood and sang for the first time not some new commercial venue."I have sung at the Grand Ole Opry" Go listen to some Patsy youll feel better.
