George Strait and Alan Jackson did a duet a few years ago called "Murder On Music Row" as I recall the name being. I know it was on Jackson's "Drive" CD, and don't know what on Strait's CD. Know that both sang it on their own concert tours. Great song...don't know how them two didn't get into big trouble or black listed with the record lables for that one. Ever hear it? Basically was about how country music was murdered by the like of big hair country rock-n-roll...and even Merle couldn't survive today and all for big $$$, not quality country. If you ever get a chance to hear it, it pretty much nails it.
I love my rock-n-roll too, and was always a big fan way back when of Heart, especially Nancy Wilson because she could wail on a Fender Strat or Tele with the best of them. Years ago she pointed out how MTV killed rock-n-roll and the radio, using her sister Ann as an example. Ann could make your ears pop when she sang, and had a great voice, but loud. More than one Heart concert left me deaf for a couple of days. But Ann's problem was that she gained weight and according to MTV became unpresentable to view. Well, no MTV videos equated to no radio play because things changed to where had to get past MTV to get to the radio, and I'm certain the same can be said about country music these days...no flashy videos on CMT or ??? equate to no or limited radio play. As Nancy said back then, "Its supposed to be about the music, Stupid". I'd say she nailed that one too.
