You don't mean two cylinders (four hoses), do you? 'Cause that's simple. You can either add another spool (they usually piggyback on the one you have), or buy one of those 'hydraulic multipliers' that use electrically operated valves to select either one function or the other. If you really mean two hoses (one cyl) then that's a bit more complicated. 1) Some tractors are set up to run a single-acting cylinder off the 3-pt lift arm system. If you have this type then you will not have a seperate control lever for the hydraulic system, and there will be only one hose going to the implement. 2) You may have a seperate hydraulic spool valve that is either set up as a) single acting, in which case there is one hose, or b) double acting, in which case there are two. You will have a hydraulic control lever in addition to the 3-pt lever. You can either change the tractor or the implements (maybe). If the implement does not require the cyl to provide force in both directions, (such as the mower; the head will probably fall under its own weight) you can either replace the cyl with a single-acting variety, or convert the one you have by removing the hose that provides pressure to the un-needed side of the cyl and replacing it with a breather plug (with some sort of filter, to keep dust from eating the cyl). This may be the cheaper way to go, but you may miss the double-acting function if you ever but another piece of equipment that needs it. If you choose to modify the tractor, then: Case 1: You might be out of luck. It may be possible to obtain the appropriate control valve and retro-fit it to your machine, but then again, maybe not. Case 2a: Some single-acting valves can be converted to double-acting simply by replacing a plug with another hyd line. If you don't have this type, then you'll need to replace the valve with the double-acting type. Case 2b: You wouldn't be asking the question! :) Hope this helps.

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
