Picked up an interesting hydraulic unit in a little horse trading and I'm wondering just what it is. I would think it is an all-in-one hydraulic unit. It is square cast iron unit, about 10" X 10" X 12" in height. It has a single shaft near the bottom and a single control lever on the side. The control lever seems to have sort of a ratchet assembly built in that holds the lever in one position (after you click it into place) until you release it back. It has mounting locations near the bottom (but not at the very bottom. Near the top is a casting that 3 hoses can hook up to, all of them seem to be continuous with each other inside the casting. Only one of the hookups has a hose, the other 2 are plugged with pipe plugs. On the other side is an oil fill pipe with a cast cap. The only ID that I can see on it are the numbers 5018EA cast into the hose hook up casting. The fill cap has the numbers F11 stamped in and it seems to also have the IH symbol (the one with the I in the middle of the H) stamped in here as well. I cannot find any other identification on the unit. Any ideas on who made it, when it was made, and how it works would be appreciated. Is it worthwhile tearing apart and maybe reconditioning? Thanks.

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
