I have a 2002 dodge 2500 diesel with 130k miles and have replaced both the lift and injection pumps. If yours is a 2nd Generation 24 valve like mine, I would suspect the vp-44 also, but check the codes to be sure. Also, if it does turn out to be a failed injection pump I would install a fuel pressure guage asap if I planned on keeping the truck to prevent spending another $1000+ on a rebuilt IP in the future.
