Winter seems especially burdensome in upstate New York- tie stalls, waterers that they can destroy, bedding, gutter cleaners, etc. I noticed how much less money for dairy farms in upstate NY back when I wanted to dairy (35 years ago), but my mentors said "There's a reason why NY is so much less money- Trust me, you just want to "walk on by".
Much easier here- water troughs that don't freeze, freestalls, etc. Spring is basically open the gates so they can eat pasture, then get the winter area cleaned up before you have to put them back into it.
Never did find a dairy to buy, a circumstance for which I am eternally grateful.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
