One needs to build a relationship with a good mechanic,,, you are not gonna find one at a fast lube so why let them do the wham bam thank you mam on your car
A good mechanic will check all fluids, tires brakes, and take the car for a test drive, he should B able to tell you any needed repairs that are needed are any future maintenance thats needs to B done so you can plan and budget it
what I don't like about fast lubes,,, its a numbers game,,, git'em in and out fast as they can,,, their money is in numbers. So they could care less about your tires, brakes, any leaks are any other maintenance parts that about to fail
I have a pile of good tires that if they were rotated they would have got a EZ 20K more miles out of them but cuzz they went to a fast lube the rotation was neglected,,, thats a example of what you loose from a fast lube
I have towed in cars were the tie rod ends broke,,, jumped the guy about maintenance,,, most of the time its just been thru a fast lube and was never greased
I know for a fact most fast lubes have only one guy down their that has to service 3 bays and cars are lined up to the street,,, do you really think he has time to look over the underside of your car,,, even if he did do you think he would recommend a tire rotation with cars lined up to the street,,, nope its not in the cards,,, it will fudge up the numbers at the end of the day
In my wildest dreams I could not dream of doing a service on a car and not take it for a test drive then when I return open the hood, look back under the car just to be on the safe side.
To me its about trust and not money are how fast it can be done,,, Value added to the service has no price ,,, the value added by someone that wants you to get the best value out of you car
Most of the time I can take a customer that goes to a quick lube and show them were going their in the long run cost them money not save them money
To the quick lube it does not mater new are old,,, they all count as numbers at the end of the day
Now days most quick lubes are owned my major oil companies,,, interested in sell'n their product and thats all ,,, OIL comes to mind :twisted:
Once oil companies took over the quick lubes they controlled the motor oil market,,, think about it,,,, the motor oil market has always increased and never came down,,, they don't have to sit on it they have created a outlet to sell it
I have always said most any business can succeed if you can make it EZ to drive up to the front door,,, sum'n to do with convenience :wink:
