Get an ECM from your GM dealer.Aftermarket ones are junk and my aftermarket parts guys(Napa,Carquest,etc.) admit it!
Info on swapping prom chip under cover on ECM is correct.Be gentle with it.
The crank fuse will not have any power until ignition is in crank position.The other is the dash panel illumination and won't have power until park/headlamps are on and panel dimmer dial is turned up.
