First thing you want to check is for a mouse nest under the engine shroud, clogged cooling fins will cause the engine to overheat and shut down and will not re start until it has cooled down. You are mowing at full throttle? Air cooled engines are designed to be run at full throttle for max efficiency and for max cooling air. Also if your cutting high and or thick grass at a high ground speed it will cause overheating. OK, enough about overheating, Next time it shuts down on you loosen the fuel cap,if you here a hiss of air there's a good chance the vent in the fuel cap is clogged, try restarting with the fuel cap removed and that should give you your answer for that problem. I don't know what model engine you have but it could also be ignition related, when it shuts down check for spark, also could be sediment in the carb float bowl working it's way up into the main jet, after it sits for a while the obstruction falls out of the jet allowing a restart.
