Charging a battery? With a charger or in a 6 volt electrical system? If you want to charge an 8 volt battery, use 6 volt fast charge or 12 slow charge on most battery chargers. I ran an 8 volt batteries in a Ford 8N for almost 20 years. I installed the battery and with the motor running at mid-range, I adjusted the voltage regulator to give about 9 volts. Never had a problem after adjusting the voltage regulator. Never had any lights, so the 8 volts didn't matter. I did have problems burning the points prematurely with 8 volts. Installed a Chrysler ballast resistor and that fixed the short life problem. For starting you can by-pass the resistor and switch it back in for running. Ken McWilliams Dayton, Oh
