I agree with you Kippster about it being "beauty is in the eye of the owner". I don't fully agree with the collectors making anything "better than new" what's that mean anyway? If it's better than new then it's not an accurate restoration is it? Such as using clear coat paint or any super glossy type paint, painting the tractor with it dis-assembled, maybe even the use of paint hardener. None of which are accurate restorations, just something the owner is very proud of. So do it your way and be proud of it within reason of course. It still needs to look like it's heritage. My particular type of restoration is all internal. Paint doesn't interest me as much as having it working good. Since the farmer that originally bought the tractor used it, didn't show it and probably wouldn't put much money into a paint job if something got scratched or dinged up why should I?
