FORD 8N BATTERY PROBLEM

I ACCIDENTALLY INSTALLED MY BATTERY BACKWARDS. I LEFT IT FOR A FEW DAYS. I THEN RECHARGED IT BUT IM GETTING QUITE A BIT OF SPARKING WHEN I GO TO RE INSTALL IT, THE TRACTOR WILL START FINE AND RUN FINE BUT AFTER IT IS SHUT OFF AND SITS OVERNIGHT THE BATTERY WILL BE DEAD. I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS DAMAGED BY THE BATTERY BEING INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. THANKS ALOT.
