I filled the fronts on my backhoe with foam rubber, not the lighter foam that looks like insulation. With the foam rubber you have the same bounce that you did with air, they are not hard. They are very heavy, I would guess the stuff is as heavy as calcium, and it is fairly expensive, my tires are about 12 x 16 and they were $250 each to have filled, so start with a good tire not a half wore out carcass. Could not be happier with mine.
