Back when i was a youngster At my uncles farm we always started plowing in March some times even late Feb. . We did not have a problem back then with the wet spots as we plowed with crawlers back then . One OC 3 , One OC 6 and the D4 Cat . Two bottoms behind the OC 3 three bottoms behind the OC 6 and Five behind the D4 . Many days i spent on the OC 3 in a snow suit five buckle boots and mittens . Second gear right foot holding the throttle wide open , getting to the head land pulling for all i was worth on the trip rope to get the plow up only to have the land wheel slide and not raise the plow and makethe turn and drop into the farrow and go a bit then the plow would come up. . I do believe i learned how to swear back then . My uncle put one tire chain on the land wheel and this helped some . God that brings back fond memories .
