I've got an Avery A with a 6-volt electrical system, with magneto ignition. Very little of the wiring is there, and what is there doesn't make sense. For example, there is a battery cable between the battery box area leading directly to the starter lug terminal. Somehow, I would think it should be routed first to a large push type starter button (which isn't there). Anyways, suppose I have the following components. Can anyone describe for me what hooks up to what (including + and - terminals). I am assuming that the tractor is a positive ground. Here goes: Generator - with a 2-coil regulating unit on top. One is probably a relay coil to prevent battery discharge while the other is probably a voltage or amperage control. One wire leads from this generator/regulator (going nowhere at this time). Ammeter - regular type with + and - terminals. Starter Button - heavy, push type (hand or foot operated). Starter - Grounds itself when bolted down. Has a single lug to bolt a cable to. No solonoid, etc. Wires & Cables - as needed of various sizes. I guess that would be all I need. The mag ignition system is separate from all this other stuff so I don't have to be concerned with that. Can you walk me through what connects to what, including polarity (+ and -) and recommended cable/wire sizes? Thanks.

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
