Roundup only affects green leafy areas of plants, and travels through those plants to the roots to kill the whole plant.
The roundup that doesn't hit a green leafy area will bind with clay particles real, real fast, and convert over to inert stuff in a short time.
It has no lasting effect. It does have a soap with it that helps it get into the plants. These soaps are actually more harmful to waterways & such than the actual chemical - they can last a little while if they wash into a creek or pond. But, if you search through the data, it seems the soap is the worst part, moreso than the chemical itself. Now, we was our hands with soap how many times a day?
