Yeah, people aren't afraid to spend money at consignment sales and auctions because they're mostly buying used equipment and they think they are getting a good deal and saving money where as in a good economy they'd run off to the store or dealer and buy new. The fact is a lot of people still have to buy materials and supplies or update old equipment to stay in business but they can't afford to run out and buy brand new stuff either. It seems like around here the local sales that occur on a regular basis or every year are drawing in much larger crowds and fetching much higher prices than ever before. I went to one last weekend and there's no way I would pay even close to what some of the junk was bringing. And you couldn't hardly get within 50 feet of any of the auctioneers without forcing your way through the huge crowds of people. Around here, used equipment sales and repair work have been picking up business, but sales of new stuff are way down in the hole.
