The shifter system takes some time and a bit of analysis, but it is most likely due to wear on several pivot and linkage ends. Starting from one end, look for lost motion and "wiggle" in the movement. Replace bushings pins and worn parts as needed. The throttle friction disk is under the dash, and takes a bit of getting to it. But is simple aspring and disk system.
