it would be very rare if the valve guides were the problem it,s a flat head and the oil would have to flow up hill with out presure.if you want to increse the oil presure look on top and behind the fan blade you will se a big plug take it out and stretch the spring,wen looking at the plunger it lookes like a bad spot on side thats for some oil by pass so dont worry. if you do decide to overhaul it get with me and iwill walk you threw it they are easy to do have donr hundred,s of them and no what to use to make a real nice motor,i dont like those tractors but they have best resale of any thing. good luck
