Thanks I have had a passive interest in building such a program, based upon a set of published factors. In fact, I suggested that on the MM forum when a series of hp calcs dialogs were passing back and forth. The formula someone had stated had obvious flaws, although I do believe he cited it as it was presented in the book he had...it just was either missing something or simply in error. This was the crux of the conversation, and that "why couldn't just one formula work? That'd be tough for an all inclusive formula to do with the miriad of combinations used in the internal combustion engine. I suggested everyone just send in what info thay had in their books or their knowledge. I was going to simply place it all in a database, from which a set of derived formulas based on fuel and induction type, bore and stroke, rated rpm, compression ratio, etc. I do data and statistical derivitive formulations all the time, thought it would be an interesting little project. Needed a minimum of a hundered data sets (300 would be better) for each major class/type. I think it must have scared them off because no one sent in a thing. Guess they only thought they wanted to know. I'd be interested in checking out this program though. I was born on "red" and Dad left ag about the time the last of the 1066s came out. Now I'm back into it ... well tring anyway...and yes, the jury is still out as to whether we'll go totally broke or not. However since we now have a country place and a place to put them I've been getting into the stationaries and the old tractors. These tractors don't make to the shows though...they are still working for a living. Currently have a ongoing MM U project, a Ford 981, and hopefully latter this week, a McCormick Deering 10-20. I know, I could put the same $ into a newer style, but I'd rather have the neighbors shaking their heads (well the young ones do, the older ones just smile). Besides these old gals still want to work ... not just rot away somewhere. Well, nice chating with...gotta go.

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
