Put American military on board? These are private companies and the companies hold the key to it and they don't want arms on their ships.
Bomb the sanctuaries? Nope...indiscriminate bombing is stupid...get one pirate and kill 1000 civilians....that'll go over well with the world.
We haven't had a real "Battleship" since they retired the Missouri in the early 90's, just Cruisers and Destroyers. It was the last active battleship in the world.
F-14's where retired in about '06, they were getting pretty hard to keep airworthy.
