The easiest way is to look at the "wishbone" braces running back from the front axle to each side of the bellhousing. The 9N's were built from 1939 through 1941. These are most easilly identified by the "wishbone" brace being shaped as an "I" beam. The 2N was made from 1942 thru 1946. The "wishbone" brace is tubular and similar to the 8N's.
