Regarding the old, rusty tractors: my favorite story is about the pull last year when the shiny JD 80's, 820's and 830's were pulling against each other. At the last minute, this old boy showed up with an International W600 diesel that looked like it needed some real TLC. Closer inspection (visual and audio) revealed that the money had been spent on the inside of the tractor. Well they hooked this old boy up and he might still be pulling that sled yet. Looks can be deceiving and that's what makes it interesting. On the other end are the people that take off their shoes before they even get on the machine. Whatever floats your boat (or drives your tractor!)
