I went to the one in Dallas. There were between 4,000 and 5,000 people. It was held in the evening so working people, like me, could attend. No rowdiness of any kind. There were many, many rallies across the state.
Lots of comments about enough government in our lives. No politicians were invited to speak.
While there has been a small tax cut at the federal level, the new budget has many, many increases in taxes. We must pay attention to what is going on at the state level, too.
Here in Tx, one state representative has proposed to double the fees for things like driver license renewals, etc.
As far as representation goes, how many elected officials have campaigned on one thing and once elected, done the opposite? That's not representation.
The Dallas TEA party stressed we need to be organizing now for the congressional elections in 2010. Good idea.
They urged everyone to vote, but to research the candidates and be informed about the candidate and the candidate's record and not just vote party.
Good, common sense ideas.
