In reallity?truthfully and beyond all the bs???.56 difference!!! absolutly positivly cant be changed fact.your engine will have to turn.56 more times to get the same speed,your usable torque(which by the way MOVES YOUR TRUCK) will increase by whatever gear ratio your in x.56...by putting a higher number gear in your truck you will increase its usable TORQUE!!! you will do absolutely nothing to your engine HP!.torgue moves your truck,in your engine its fixed by the lenght of throw between center of crank and center of rod journals.in your transmission its variable,by the gears,and you can calculate the mechanical advantage by again measuring from the center point of shaft to the outside of gears.in your rearend you again have a fixed gear meaning that the changing of your rearend gears changes them all equally.a tradeoff if you will.you will get more torque at rear wheels,but you will have to speed up engine the coresponding amount to maintain the same speed..hp increases strickly in the higher gears because of speed you can get out of those gears..just remember,torque is what does the work.horsepower tells you how fast work can be done.you can pull a battleship down the road with a one hp engine and enough gears increasing torque ,doubt that you could see it moving though.put a 1000 hp engine dragging it and you can do it faster not better,what you have to look at is if the miles you drive with the lower gears unloaded, offsets the miles you drive loaded..lower(or higher number gears) will help you pull load EVERYTIME! cant change that law of mechaninical engineering,you me nobody can stop it from doing so!unfortunatly it will also effect your fuel consumption to some degree.also a fact that cant be changed,how much depends on you and how you drive .
