One evening several years ago, James was working on the gas tank to our JD 43B. I had gone inside to get some dinner and a little bit later he came in with a very strange look on his face.
He said he needed some help, there were pieces of wood in the gas tank.
I got a flash light and took a look. James had drained the tank ans sure enough there were all these pieces of wood laying around in the bottom of the gas tank.
I thought a minute, then got my long handled BBQ fork, stabbed the larger ones, got them up to the top of the tank at the fuel neck, then got a hold of them with my fingers and pulled them out.
James had removed the fuel bowl on the bottom and the ones I couldn't stab, I poked out the bottom.
There was an amazing amount of wood shards in that tank. I was surprised that B even ran.
We took pictures of all the wood we fished out of that tank, but James is out of town today and he posts all the pictures.

After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
