Just this morning I was pulling the grain drill and crushers home after finishing up a little bit of seeding after I ran out of hay seed last night. Since the crushers don't have wheels, I just drive slower on the road, and the drill is 12' wide plus the wheels so it's just over 13' wide total.

I was on the shoulder because I was going 1/2 the normal road speed for our tractor, and people were just nuts. Last night wasn't so bad going to the feild, but this morning everyone was in a rush. I had one guy in a brown Astro van who I swore was gonna come up over the crushers and hit the drill. Then there was the guy in a PT Cruiser who had to pass me, only to have to turn into the meat packer just another 100 yards ahead. PLus there were 4 other cars behind him who then had to slam on the brakes becuase they sped up to pass. They all took the gravel shoulder, which is illegal to pass on.

I went through the 4-H sponsered tractor safety course and they even told us then, to either be in the road, or on the shoulder. Don't straddle the line, or have one side on one side off. They really didn't like takeing the shoulder either, and told us to avoid it if at all possible. I move over if it's ok to pass and I try to be courtious, but some of the drivers are @ssholes, plain and simple. Nothing you can do but hope they don't hit you.
