If it has a Detroit 2 stroke motor,those can be built to turn either way.I think you turn the cam around to change the rotation of the motor.I dont know if thats what you were asking about for sure.Heres what I think,if the engine is turned in a forward gear in the rotation you think it turns,and the machine goes backwards,you need to turn the cam around to get it to go the right direction for your machine.If its a gas motor it probably only turns one way,and if you need it to turn the other way you woulod probably need the cam and crank out of the old motor.Just a guess.If itsw the fan blades you think are turning the wrong way,most construction stuff was made to where you could change the blades to push air through or pull air through the radiator.
