Well.... with a year like this, manure is money. Big money. When you stand to lose 50 % of the N in a day or so, you don't want to dog around waiting to get it plowed under. Plain and simple, he stood to lose a lot more by waiting for it to dry up than it would have cost him to plow the field himself. Waiting for free plowing would have cost him a lot of money... Mabey that point should have been made clear ahead of time... but I tend to think that tractors were made to work in $hit. He probably didn't think much about it at all, nor would I.
