Recently bought this '75 Ford 3000 gas with 8 speed from Wifes Aunt after Uncle had passed away. Spend about a month cleaning and servicing. Tuned up with new spark parts and filters. Replaced all lubes. Fixed a few items like start safty switch, lights, installed new ball joints on the liftarms, new tach drive cable, and of most importance installed a new seat. My intended use was for bushhog and disc duty on hunting lease. Well, just spent the last couple of days in the saddle and I must say that this tractor was a perfect choice for this work. Fitted with a 6' mower the engine has plenty of power and the mower does not make the frontend too light to steer well. It does have power steering which I understand makes a large difference. I was concerned that I would have a bit of trouble getting to some places with the 6' mower but so far no problem. After reading some of the comments against gas tractors I had a bit of concern about fuel useage. In the two days hard running I used about 15 gallons of premium and I don't think that was bad at all. According to the specs for the 3000, max torque is at 1500 rpm and 540 pto rpm is reached at 1600, so that is where I kept the throttle and every thing worked out well. For anyone thinking about a good tractor for this type of work I don't see how the Ford 3000 could be any more perfect for the job. I am sure that a diesel would be fine, but don't let a gas engine scare you off. This is one good tractor.

This article will focus on what I encountered and what I did to bring the 1951 NEAR DEATH Farmall H back to life.
