ted regentin said: You probably have starter contacts out. Remove the starter (some times the starter bolts are very tight) and take the cover off the solenoid. Take the plunger out and there are two copper contacts you can change. Take then to a good auto parts store and match them up. Replace the plunger too.
You ain't kidding they will be tight! When I replaced the contacts in my starter I couldn't get a good hold on the wrench when removing the top bolt (as I remember). Broke a 10mm 12point open end wrench. Then after I got a different wrench, I put a 2x4 and floor jack under the wrench and jacked until the bolt came loose. Found the only good way to get the starter bolts loose was from the bottom.
The contacts and plunger cost under $20 and took about a half an hour to change out...once you got the starter bolts loose!
