I was at a sale a month ago where a nice MF163 went for $2500. I have seen several smal molines, fords, and cases go in the price range you desrire. I don't know what type work you will be doing with the tractor, but I would reccommend you get the biggest tractor you can for your investment as sometimes new tractor people like myself by small thinking it will do what they want, then have to go out a short time later and trade up. You might also want to subscribe to farmweek and view their clasified section which lists several reasonable older tractors. I don't know that I have a favorite brand to recomend, but Oliver has done a better job for me than my old case.
